Butchart Gardens through the seasons

Spring: Spring welcomes over 300,000 bulbs, blooming in brilliant colours. Typically, their spring gardens peak between the start of April and the first week of May. Though the display time can vary year to year, sometimes starting a few weeks earlier or later depending on the weather and the severity of the last winter.

Summer: Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy their world-class firework show every Saturday evening in July and August. Each show features original aerial and ground displays choreographed to music and are designed by Jennie Butchart’s great-grandson Christopher Ross. *Fireworks are included with your admission to The Gardens.

Autumn: Come see their rich collection of Japanese Maples, Dahlias and vivid Chrysanthemums that all add to the autumn season’s parade of reds, russets and golden hues.

Winter: At The Gardens winter is separated in two takes, the first starting in late October through November and the second starting in late January through March. In the first half, they prepare for winter and their famous Magic of Christmas display. Then after Christmas, the garden sleeps while they tend to any alterations or upgrades of the landscape.
